What makes it fun

Originally dedicated in 1755, Mission Concepción has withstood the test of time and appears very much as it did over two centuries ago. It stands to this day as the oldest unrestored stone church in America, giving it an even more special significance. For many years the original, colorful geometric designs covered its outer surface, unfortuantely the patterns have long since faded, however, a few of the original frescos are still visible in several of the interior rooms and should not be missed. Audio tours are available through most cellular devices to explain the history as you walk around the area. A wonderful piece of history that has withstood the test of time and has continued to endure may be the perfect symbolism to commemorate a special moment in your relationship with your signficant other.

Muy bueno. What a great visit to the Mission Concepcion. A very serene quiet place to visit. We enjoyed walking the grounds on a beautiful sunny day!

If you're into pre-Texas history. The old misson trail provides you with some insight life and times of early mission. Some of the photos are not from this particular mission, but I wanted you to see what you're missing if you don't go to each of them. The aqueduct was pretty cool.Caution: During the summer months, when visiting the mission, please drink plenty of water. Stay on the paths and off of any structures.

Beautiful and a very passionate parishioner explained how EVERYTHING was original and 300 years old. He was delightful. A lovely experience.

I went here at 08:45 on a Saturday morning and there was no one here. I had the grounds all to myself. There was no charge to wander the site or enter into any of the chapel or sanctuary areas. There are boxes set up for donations but nothing obligatory. The grounds were well kept and the site was well preserved. I stayed for about 30 minutes and had a delightful morning as I continued down the Mission Trail.

I enjoyed visiting this mission. It's still an active church along with a historical site. It is beautifully conserved and you can almost feel all the history on the walls. It was well worth a stop.
