Pros:-Great location! Just about everything you'd want to do when visiting San Antonio is within walking distance, even the Alamo is only a 15 minute (0.6 miles) walk which really seems quicker when you go along the riverwalk. It's also right across the street from the cathedral and the riverwalk and close to the Historic market square. There are also great restaurants nearby.-The room had a fridge and a mini-bar with overpriced beverages, but it was nice to have a fridge as well as ironing board, coffee maker and the other basics. My girlfriend said the coffee was pretty good as well.-the lobby has a nice game area with shuffleboard and large chess set as well as other games and a decent pool (which we didn't use), but for people with kids this would definitely be a fun hotel.-The rooms and hotel were also pretty clean, and the beds were pretty comfortable in my opinion.Cons:-Parking. The hotel only has valet parking for $35/day, or you can use the public parking lot next to the hotel for $15/day. There are really no other options for parking in the area.-Don't expect a nice view. Most of the rooms are inward looking at eachother and the pool, but even the exterior rooms are mostly just looking out at other buildings and the alleyways. I can't imagine any of the rooms would have a very good view of the river if that's what you're looking for. However, it was nice to be a little further away from all the bars and riverwalk hustle and bustle to be able to have a quiet and peaceful hotel room in the evening.-Many of the chairs in the pool area were well used and had large cuts and holes in the cusions. The pool also isn't very big.-I don't believe they do complementary breakfast. They do have a coffee shop and restaurant in the lobby though. There are a lot of really good restaurants in the area that we wanted to go to, so that wasn't a big deal for us.

I wouldn’t come here again. For how much they charge, you’d think the customer service would be equivalent or better. We checked into this hotel on May 1st. We hadn’t had our sheets changed at all. I requested that the sheets be changed, but they mistook me for saying “Make the bed.” I can make the bed myself. I don’t, however; have access to available sheets. The housekeeping manager sat on the phone and argued with me about how we checked in yesterday, and our room was not due for rotation. We checked in on the 1st! We were charged for 3 nights! That’s a misconception on THEIR end. I cannot believe I had to go back and forth to the lobby and speak to various people over SHEETS. I would NEVER come back here again. 0/10 do NOT recommend!

We had a presidential suite. It was a corner suite. It was beautiful. The view was beautiful. The room was larger. This is a converted older building, so what some others saw as flaws we saw as charm. The staff were so amazing. My husband said the grew them on the happy tree, because they were super nice. Loved the Gavel. Great food, better service. The valets were so sweet and funny. Honestly, we will be back.Thanks for a fantastic stay.

Stayed here for two days with my family and it was a great experience! The location is perfect as it's on the Riverwalk, but not in the most crowded area. Very short walk to everywhere! Had a small issue with my TV at 7pm. I informed the front desk and the problem was resolved within a 1/2 hour. Very Welcoming valet, front desk, and overall hotel ambiance. Would definitely stay again

Rooms were a little older but nice with fridge and plenty of channels on TV. AC was cold 🥶 even at 104 degrees outside. Bathroom was average, a little small. We had a pool view. I would recommend if you have kids. Noise ends about 10 pm. Front desk was very nice, valet was kind and professional. Parking is around $35 to valet but I believe there are other parking options available. Cool restaurant inside, food was very good and wait staff was really attentive and polite. Location is fairly close to Riverwalk, but about 10 minutes walk to the actual restaurants and shopping. A few homeless people but I felt safe. This is a great value for the money in the downtown area. Recommended 👍

My partner and I had a wonderful stay here. We stayed 2 nights. The location is excellent, close to the Riverwalk that had many restaurants. The area felt very safe and comfortable to walk around alone. The staff was beyond kind, everyone we ran into asked us about our stay and let us know that were there to help from reception to maintenance. The rooms are modern and very clean. The bedding is comfortable and I love how many pillows there were on the bed. I liked that there was a massive window in the room that let in a ton of light. The only thing I wish there was, a light above the shower, other than that I can offer no complaints.
