Historic Lone Star Brewery converted into a museum of art? Sounds made up, but its not! Along the Museum Reach portion of the River walk sits The San Antonio Museum of Art. Known for its exceptional collection of culturally diverse art, the museum has fine art pieces that span across 5,000 years. Some of these incredible works of art include Egyptian, Roman, and Greek artifacts and antiques. As well as art from Asian and Latin American cultures. American paintings and other contemporary art pieces can also be found on display here. A place rich with culture, history, wonders and mystery. Highly recommended stop in San Antonio. High quality Asian and Chinese art collection . Smaller scale than Houston but more interesting collection.

Wow, this place is truly mind-blowing! Tickets were $20 and they were completely worth it. I did not expect to see so many artifacts from Rome, Egypt, Greece, and many other places around the world. The Egyptian Exhibit was particularly impressive, and if you are interested in Greek pottery or Roman sculptures you’ll have a lot to see as well.The artwork exhibits were amazing as well. There was art from all over America at the “Made in America” exhibit and that was very interesting to look through! The European art exhibit was very impressive, with some paintings dating back to the 15th century!This is a great stop in San Antonio and you’d be missing out if you didn’t check it out!

Very welcoming place. I saw folks of all walks of life there socializing in a safe space. Sadly i take a picture but they have a very cool mural. Also at one point the bar tender was playing classic anime theme songs. Really brought my inside kid out while hanging out with friends. Very cute spot.

Fantastic museum with a mix of global, American and regional art.Loved the Rockefeller Latin American, Greek/Roman/Egyptian, as well as Asian collections. The building itself used to be the Lone Star Brewing Company, I believe? Gorgeous piece of architecture that closed before Prohibition and had various uses until becoming the museum in 1980 or so. There was a docent who was amazing in explaining the history of the building, the museum and surrounding area.Highly recommended.

The lay out of the museum is very organic and allows you to wander. So full of artifacts from across different time periods. Plus the way they have the Asian culture sections lighting set up make it feel like you are discovering something for yourself.

Nice museum, just wish I had more time. I only had about an hour and there was SO much to see. Probably have 2 hours to do it justice, but there are lovely exhibits from Ancient Egyptian and Roman to contemporary Mexican and American art.

We totally enjoyed this Museum amazing detail on old treasures like I've never seen before. It's amazing how engineers turned the old Lone Star brewery into this gorgeous museum if you live in San Antonio or visiting you MUST take this awesome museum in! Thank you guys for a great time with my wife and daughter
