    What makes it fun

Scobee Planetarium has taught San Antonio children and community members about stars and planets, for decades! The Planetarium has 100 individual reclined seats, a state-of-the-art light and sound system and the most advanced digital projection system to date. If you want to Expedition to Mars and investigate the geology of planet or travel on a Lunar Quest to help scientists explore the geology of the moon head to San Antonio college’s Scobee Planetarium. Though usually designated for school trips, if you want to stare at the galaxy, Public missions are offered. Preferable times are in February around Valentine's Day and April AKA the start of Spring.

I first visited when I was in elementary school over 40 years ago, although my husband has resided in S.A. his entire life, I took him for his first visit. We attended the 9:30 showing and really enjoyed ourselves. From the start we were offered a free ride from the parking lot to the building. The entrance area had great lighting, the facility was clean and the staff very friendly. We will be returning with our family to share the experience with them!

First time visit along with our four year old grandson, he loved it as much as we did, looking forward to many more visits.

My wife and I have been a couple times now. There generally are a lot of kids - to be expected from an education center - but the host generally wrangles them down pretty quick. I highly recommend going to see the planetarium show at night. After the show was over, Jupiter happened to be visible and we got to look through the big telescope. It was awesome! We’ll definitely be back.

This is a great experience for children and adults. They have different shows at different times even some for adults. Tickets go one sale 30 minutes before the show and you have to be there on person to buy them. Adults $5, Children & teachers with an ID $4. Amazing view of the stares and galaxy. It’s a fun activity to do with or without children especially during the summer when it’s too hot out side.
