Sit, Stay, Smooch: Dog-Friendly Date Spots in San Antonio

August is National Dog Month, which means it’s time to unleash a little extra love! Why leave your dog at home when you can bring them along for a romantic adventure around the Alamo City? From scenic parks and riverside strolls to breweries and brunch patios, San Antonio has plenty of places where you, your sweetheart, and your pup can make memories together. So grab the leash, pack a few treats, and get ready for a date that’s sure to be paws-itively unforgettable.

1) Black Laboratory Brewing~ Good Brews, Good Dogs

It’s hard to imagine a more fitting brewery for a dog-friendly date than one literally inspired by a very good dog. Black Laboratory Brewing was created by two scientists and one four-legged friend, so pups are clearly part of the formula here. Head to Black Laboratory Brewing for craft beer, laid-back vibes, and a chance to relax with your sweetheart and canine companion. With a name like Black Laboratory, you could say this is one experiment in romance that’s worth conducting.

2) Confluence Park~ Bark in the Park

For a date that’s a little more scenic, leash up your love and head to Confluence Park. Located where the San Antonio River and San Pedro Creek meet, this beautiful park combines nature, art, and striking modern architecture for a backdrop that’s anything but ordinary. Take a leisurely stroll along the trails with your pup, admire the park’s unique “sails,” and enjoy some quality time together surrounded by the sights and sounds of the river. Make sure to keep your dog on leash and pick up after them.

3) Box St. All Day~ Brunch with Your Pack

Brunch dates are already pretty paw-some, but they’re even better when your pup can join the party. Box St. All Day serves up all-day brunch, coffee, cocktails, mimosas, and plenty of good vibes, with dog-friendly patios. Your pup may not be able to order the mimosas, but they’ll certainly appreciate being invited to brunch. While there isn’t a specific menu for dogs, we’ve never seen a dog pass up a piece of bacon or sausage.

4) Dos Sirenos Brewing~ Toast to Your Dog

Raise a glass to puppy love at Dos Sirenos Brewing. This lively neighborhood brewery serves up house-brewed beer, pub grub, brunch on weekends, and plenty of outdoor seating where well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Grab a couple of cold ones, share some food, and let your pup enjoy the patio while you and your sweetheart soak up the laid-back atmosphere. Check out their live music schedule for some added fun.

5) Brackenridge Park~ Picnic with Your Pup

Brackenridge Park is ready to make your date a walk in the park, literally. This beloved San Antonio landmark offers plenty of green space, trails, river scenery, picnic areas, and historic charm, giving couples plenty to explore together. Dogs are welcome throughout the park as long as they’re kept on a leash and you pick up after them. Pack a picnic (don’t forget to include a snack for your pup), take a leisurely stroll, and enjoy a little nature with your favorite person and your favorite pooch.

Don’t have a dog of your own to celebrate National Dog Month with? You can still celebrate and make a huge difference for a dog! San Antonio Animal Care Services allows adults to check out an adoptable shelter dog for a day of fun through their Shelter Paws program. Sign up and the staff can help you find a furry friend to third wheel on your next date. It’s a win-win, you get an unforgettable outing and the dog gets a day full of love and adventure. San Antonio proves that some of the best dates really do go to the dogs regardless of whether it’s your own dog or a shelter dog your taking out for some fun. After all, love is even sweeter when it’s shared with someone who thinks you’re both pawsome.
