Boo’d Up: Romantic Spots for a Spooktacular Halloween Date in San Antonio

Halloween is creeping around the corner, and that means it’s time to trade your usual date for something a little more spooktacular. San Antonio has plenty of spots to make your spooky season date frightfully fun. So, grab your favorite ghost or ghoul and get ready for a hauntingly good time at these romantic spots.

1) Jardín de las Catrinas & BOOtanica at San Antonio Botanical Garden~ Get Your Boo in Bloom

Talk about a killer garden date! The San Antonio Botanical Garden is going all out for spooky season with Jardín de las Catrinas, featuring eight larger-than-life Catrinas, more than 10,000 marigolds, and more festive flora throughout the Garden from September 15 – November 2. Then, on select Fridays and Saturdays in October, BOOtanica adds even more fall fun with pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, face painting, live music, and plenty of spooky surprises. Wander hand in hand through the colorful displays before enjoying the festivities, because nothing says falling for someone quite like a garden full of blooms, boos, and beautiful photo ops.

2) RJA Ghost Tours~ Walk This Way… If You Dare

Ready to find out whether your sweetheart is brave enough to face the ghosts of San Antonio? RJA GHOST TOURS takes you on a nightly walking tour through downtown San Antonio, where Certified Paranormal Investigators share haunted history, ghost stories, legends, and folklore while introducing guests to different types of paranormal activity. Tours begin at 9 p.m. at the Crockett Tavern inside The Crockett Hotel, and advance reservations are required. It’s the perfect opportunity to hold hands, investigate some seriously spooky spots, and discover whether your boo screams louder than you do.

3) Zoo Boo! at San Antonio Zoo~ Have a Wild Halloween

Put the “boo” in zoo with a Halloween date to the San Antonio Zoo. Zoo Boo! runs September 19 through November 1 with daily trick-or-treating, seasonal food and drinks, live entertainment, interactive animal experiences, and the new Fiesta de los Muertos. With colorful Día de los Muertos inspired realms, festive decorations, and plenty of animals to see along the way, it’s a wild way to spend some quality time with your favorite person. Consider it a date that’s guaranteed to be a little batty in the best possible way.

4) The Addams Family Musical at Wonder Theatre~ Kooky & Spooky

Looking for a date that’s creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky? Wonder Theatre brings The Addams Family Musical to the stage, following Wednesday Addams as she falls in love and introduces her “normal” boyfriend to her decidedly abnormal family. The production’s 2026 season includes performances October 2-4 and October 9-11. With music, comedy, romance, and just the right amount of family dysfunction, this is one Halloween date with just the right mix of spooky and kooky fun.

5) Ghost Tours with Go Rio River Cruise~ Love Is in the Air or Maybe it’s a Ghost

You’ve seen the River Walk by day, but have you ever experienced its darker side after sunset? GO RIO San Antonio River Cruises offers select-evening Ghost Tours in October, taking sweethearts on a hour long cruise filled with haunted tales, chilling folklore, and paranormal intrigue. Settle in beside your sweetheart as you glide through downtown and hear some of the River Walk’s spookier stories. It’s a date that proves the only thing better than a romantic cruise is a romantic cruise with a few ghosts along for the ride.

6) Fall Pumpkin Patch at Tower of the Americas~ Pumpkin Spice Up Your Date

Need a little pumpkin spice in your romance? The Tower of the Americas Fall Pumpkin Patch runs October 5 through November 15 and features seasonal decor, fall displays, picture perfect photo setups, and pumpkins available for purchase while supplies last. Best of all, admission to the pumpkin patch is free. Stroll through the autumn displays, snap some cute couple photos, and pick out a pumpkin together before heading up the Tower for panoramic views of the city. It’s an easy going way to get into the fall spirit without squashing your date budget all in one go.

7) Dracula at Tobin Center~ A Love Story With Bite

For a Halloween date with a little more drama, sink your teeth into Dracula at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. Ballet San Antonio brings Roberto Forleo’s haunting adaptation to the H-E-B Performance Hall on October 23–25, combining gothic romance, supernatural intrigue, cinematic storytelling, and powerful choreography. With a story centered around Dracula’s centuries-long quest to reunite with his lost love, this performance proves that some romances really do last forever. Just don’t be surprised if your spooktacular sweetheart leaves feeling a little more enamored than undead.

This Halloween, skip the ordinary routine and make your date night a little more fang-tastic. From Catrinas and pumpkins to ghost tours, haunted river cruises, wild Halloween fun, and gothic romance, San Antonio has plenty of ways to celebrate spooky season with your sweetheart. So grab your boo, pick your poison, and make some hauntingly good memories together. Love may be scary, but a boring date is downright terrifying!
