    What makes it fun

An old firehouse restored and turned into a fine dining place of delicious wonder. The Battalion is an incredible Italian style restaurant serving up your favorite dishes with a high class twist. The spot overlooks the beautiful city of downtown San Antonio and the Tower of The Americas. The building fits in well with all the other historical places that surround it, with its charming 1920’s style. The Battalion has all the classic Italian dishes we all know and love as well as fresh vegetables, char-grilled meats and housemade pasta all cooked to perfection. They also have an impressive list of wine to pair with any dish. The cocktail list is just as creatively enticing and will add the right amount of dazzle to any plate. A dinner for two at the Battalion is a recipe for something magnifico!

Went there to celebrate Vday and was very pleased with the food. It’s an old fire station and you can see the slide down poles. I would go back. Very good. Service was great as well. Not very romantic but very cool.

The meal was phenomenal, service, good, but the greeting and seating from the hostess was poor. She was distant and almost, but not quite, rude. You guys can do better.

Five of us went for dinner and had reservations. We were sat immediately. Menu is ala carte. A portion of Cacio e Pepe, overcooked, was the same price as a side of buttered spaghetti one of us ordered as a side, $16. That’s too much. Bread service is cheap. Free refills on bread, garlic and oil was literally garlic cloves mashed in oil. Other places do this better. Whipped ricotta for bread was great.

Meatball squares were good. One was undercooked.

Chicken Parm = great and huge portion.
Eggplant parm = okay. Even chains do it better.
NY Strip = steak was phenomenal. Perfect Mid rare. Roasted potatoes sucked. They shouldn’t have left the kitchen. Dry and bitter.

S’more Panna Cotta was great and unique.

Ambiance is eclectic and nice. Fitting for the building. Or waitperson was great. (Noelle)

Overall good experience but food quality and recipes were lacking. My wife wanted to add grilled chicken to a salad and they said they only had breaded chicken which was a red flag for me.

Excellent food. Service and atmosphere are great. It can be loud inside.

If you want Italian food this isn't it. Just a step or two above Olive Garden. Overall everything was completely flavorless. We had the burrata to start. The cheese itself was ok, but the olive oil was not good. The tomatoes on it were the type that add more liquid than flavor.

I followed it up with the gorgonzola pasta. Gorgonzola is such a strong cheese that you'd have to try really hard to make a cream sauce this bland. Someone hand this chef a salt shaker.

It was quite an experience! The atmosphere begins before you step foot inside, giving off the appearance of a repurposed fire station. The rain and lightening through the massive antique windows was certainly a sight to behold. The menu is alacarte and I'm confident you'll find something delicious. I enjoyed the Tillerman drink and old Fashioned. I highly recommend the manicotto and burrata.

Outstanding food, outstanding service outstanding atmosphere. The food was truly above anything you’d eat anywhere in San Antonio. Parking at this location costs 12+ for 2 hrs.

The shrimp was really good and flavorful for its low price. The Parmesan crusted lamb chops is a must try, it was our favorite. But the tiramisu and carbonara was definitely lacking in flavor.

If I could, I would give this place 4.5 stars. HERE IS WHY: Dough is great…a fantastic date night place. I love the atmosphere, rustic yet chic. The staff is amazing and friendly. The burrata is phenomenal. My salad? Amazing!! I loved the tiramisu too! But the pizza was good, not great. For the price point which it stands, I can make a few places whose pizza I find more impressive. Overall, Dough is great! Just not five stars great in my opinion. Don’t let my opinion stop you! It is definitely a spot worth checking out.

    ✝️ Peaceful, Quiet Sanctuary ✝️

Mission Espada feels like the smallest of the Missions. It's a serene space populated with lush green grass, coiling trees, and many opportunities for repose. Some of my favorite family photos were taken at this spot, with its tranquil benches, vibrant potted plant-life, and rustic stonework. The silhouette of the Mission against the sky--complete with its bells--is lovely to behold.

There's a gift shop on-site, for those wishing to take home a memento of their Mission pilgrimages, as well as restrooms for convenience. I visited around Christmastime and enjoyed the festive flourishes that decorated the grounds.
