I highly suggest visitors to add this museum to your itinerary when you visit downtown San Antonio. You won’t be disappointed!

The Western exhibits were great and told a rich history of Texas. The staff had a scavenger hunt for kids and mine had a blast looking for it.

Excellent museum of Texiana and western art. So many exceptional items in the collection. If you really enjoy these types of art, plan to spend 6 or 7 hours here ... or even better, spend a couple of days exploring these excellent items.

We visited the Briscoe Art Museum for a special event. The build part of the Museum was open to the public, but the outside grounds and Riverwalk access was closed for the event. Once the Museum was closed, the conference room / ballroom was turned into a place where a catered dinner was served, basic bar set up, and band/DJ set up.

There is a good size dance floor in this area for any dancing.

We enjoyed the wedding ceremony and post ceremony activities.

I would caution on the following, while having the nuptials outside in the beautiful grounds, just beware the weather can be unpredictable, and possibly humid, there are also competing noises - ala - a very noisy fan running in an adjacent window, which was open, and also street bans may pop up and begin playing loudly.

To offset these noises, be sure to mic up the speakers and ensure there is a way to adjust the volume.

As for parking, there is a 5 or 6 story parking lot across the street. There are signs at the entrance and on each floor indicating how many open spaces are available. Finally, payment is made when leaving, and the machines are located in the elevator lobby located on the 1st floor. Cash or credit card is accepted. As an example, we parked from 4:50 PM to 10:50 PM for $40. Note, this maybe a downtown non-special event price.

This was our first time to this lovely museum. They have such a beautiful collection of western arts such paintings , sculptures, guns, costumes…. Some of the paintings and sculptures are for purchase and some are on rotating displays. The location is excellent as it is right by the river walk. Prices are reasonable as well.

I would give this place 6 stars if I could! We loved this museum so much! An amazing mix of history, culture and contemporary art, just breathtaking. Outdoor sculpture garden is small but worth the walkthrough. Docent in the gallery was SO interesting, you could tell how much everyone loved this museum. Would highly recommend to families or adults.

It has been years since I was in this building. Glad my wife and I were able to visit on free locals day and enjoy some of the fine arts pieces and such rich history we have here in our own back yard of San Antonio. Glad that they are expanding the exhibits and look foward to new pieces that are brought in the feature.

As a soon to be San Antonio resident, I have been wanting to check out the art scene and decided to make a little rainy Valentine’s Day trip during our outing downtown. The museum has 3 levels and takes military discount along with a discount for guests of military. I pleasantly impressed w the selection of art work, highlights were some of the photography on the 1st floor, the high school student showcase in the library section, and the vibrant saddle exhibit. The rain didn’t allow us to enjoy the sculpture garden outdoors but definitely recommend for a nice outing if you’re downtown by the river walk.

Absolute wonder of a museum. Classic and contemporary artists. We can on the free “Day of the Cowboy”, but there is usually an admission price for tix. This place is worth it; the art and artifacts are worth going again and again.

I have mixed emotions- by the name and advertising I thought it was going to be handmade by Mr Ice Cream. That wasn’t the case (wink). All of the ice cream was blue bell (smirk face). Don’t get me wrong- the Blue Bell was on point, just not what I was expecting. I had the salted Carmel brownie and Hubs had the red velvet ice cream in a (pre-made, out of a box) waffle cone. The service was eh, the atmosphere cool; however your best bet is to take it outside and people watch on the Riverwalk

An absolutely wonderful museum! Very informative with lots of important artifacts and artworks. I was very impressed. They even had intriguing questions and interactive pieces to help you think critically about art. I had a fantastic visit from beginning to end.
