I stayed in room 1718, which is a corner room facing the riverwalk and St. Mary's St. I didn't care so much about view, I just wanted distance from the elevators, a higher floor, and slight separation from other rooms. So this was the best available choice (as a Hilton member, I picked a room in the mobile app upon checking in).
At least on floor 17, the xx02, xx04, and xx07 rooms are closest to the elevators. 1712-1718 seemed furthest, but those also face the riverwalk. There is music playing in a speaker near the elevators (or maybe the elevators themselves). It's not excessively loud but you can hear it and the elevator mechanisms a little bit. On 17th floor, I heard a bit of street noise, but it didn't bother my sleep. Weekend noise was a bit more, as you'd expect. I heard the nice church bells from across the street each day, which I found very pleasant. If you're looking to avoid street and riverwalk noise, xx06, xx08 and xx10 might avoid that a little, but they seem to have adjoining room doors too. the floor plan map is your friend. The hotel is literally on the riverwalk so if that proximity matters - it's a good choice. Very close to lots of dining and entertainment options. The hotel restaurant is fine. You'll get a daily room charge that can be used as partial credit in the restaurant. The restaurant does have outdoor seating right on the riverwalk.
The room was clean and modern, though the concrete floor was a tiny bit sticky. I made use of the free disposable slippers as a result :). There was a small foyer area for separation from the hallway, which I liked. I didn't hear other guests on my floor at all. In the bathroom was an overhead rainfall shower and a handheld attachment. Everything was clean and functional. Hand soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion are provided. Not the most comfortable towels and washcloths but they were clean, in decent shape, and functional. Nespresso coffee and mini/bar fridge setup, both served me fine for a few days. A garment steamer in lieu of iron and ironing board - serviceable in a pinch. The linens were clean and quite comfortable. Very soft pillows and a moderately firm but comfortable mattress. Filtered water available near the elevators - the ice dispenser was broken, but ice was available by calling the front desk.
I am a Hilton member and used the app to check in and access most things so I didn't interact with the staff too much but they were very responsive to my needs when I did. All staff were perfectly pleasant.
It's about 30 min walk to the Pearl and Alamodome, 15 min to Alamo. It's right on the Riverwalk, so plenty of access to bars and restaurants.
I felt like the price was somewhat reasonable for what you get, and for the location. About $2k for 5 nights in late September. Clean, safe, the interior of the hotel is quiet and modern, and the staff is great. Solid 4 stars. I'd recommend and would stay again.
