What makes it fun

Since 1932, La Fonda on Main has been San Antonio's most established Mexican dining establishment. We focus primarily on regional Mexican cuisine, but we also have some fantastic Tex-Mex on the menu. Feel free to make yourself at home in our dining room designed in the style of a hacienda, or unwind on our verdant and shady patio, which is heated from the ground up during the winter months. We provide brunch every Saturday and Sunday, in addition to lunch and supper every day of the week. Don't forget to enjoy the town's most delicious margaritas!

We just went for lunch on our 5th anniversary, 6 month old child in tow. The food was fresh and delicious but the most important thing that while in a nice restaurant, our child decided that this was the perfect time for him to screech loudly and act wild! He was exhausted after a big day and everyone in the restaurant heard him. We felt so embarrassed. Once our son passed out in my arms, our server, Cesar, was quick to share his own experiences with his children at home and how he knew our son was tired by the cries - in the midst of sharing about what the most ordered dishes were! His gentle and caring response in a world where children are not often welcome in public places eased my spirit and I was so thankful for how kind he was and for that - we will be back!

Got a recommendation from our Air BB host for LA Fonda. The atmosphere, service, menu choices, and my wife and I meal and dessert were all outstanding.

The inside seating is limited. If you're planning on having dinner here, make sure and call for a reservation. The patio seating area is beautiful. Plants and pottery surround the patio, making it feel comfortable and cozy. On the downside, chips and salsa are not complimentary.

Never fail spot for delicious Tex-Mex and Mexican. Great value for lunch and dinner, with a variety of options. This time around, I had the Old #7 - a cheese enchilada with their delicious sauce and a bean chalupa with all the fixings. Kid friendly, vegetarian friendly. Friendly, helpful staff. Great atmosphere!

I found this place after visiting one of my salon accounts in the area. I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad I did. La Fonda on Main is one of San Antonio’s oldest Mexican restaurants. They were established in 1932 so there is a bit of history here and I am all for it. It felt like I was walking into a family home. The staff greeted me warmly and they seated me quickly. The place was full of people dining and conversing to their hearts content. The atmosphere is low key and relaxing. Check out the beautiful tree right outside the window next to me. My server, Josh, made an excellent recommendation as you can see in my picture. I got the La Fonda Nachos with chicken. It was the perfect amount of food. It was fresh and warm. Believe it or not, because I was able to cool off, it was perfect in spite of the hot weather. If you’re in the area, check this place out.

If you’re looking for the perfect atmosphere with great service, and good food then La Fonda on Main is your spot. MAKE A RESERVATION ANY NIGHT OF THE WEEK. The Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita was the best margarita I’ve ever had. Ordered the combo fajitas, and Bistek Enchiladas. Both were very tasty and properly portioned. Our favorite were the Enchiladas. And the absolute winner of the night was the Tres Leches..when I say it was perfect..it was perfect. If this is your first time visiting you get a complimentary guacamole. This will be where we take friends and family from now on when visiting us.
