What makes it fun

La Ruina pays tribute to Tropical America. Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture and delectable spirits of the Caribbean, South and Central America, and the tropical shores of Texas. La Ruina is located in the iconic Robitzsch Brothers Grocery Store. The building had suffered from years of neglect. However, it exuded a timeless charm that evoked memories of Old Havana, Colon, Panama, and Salvador, Brasil. The owners fully embraced that aesthetic as they meticulously renovated the building, preserving the charming signs of its long history of use. Thus, La Ruina (The Ruin) came into existence. The menu features a delightful selection of cocktails, both novel and classic, from the region. The Spirits collection is centered around exquisite Rums and Agave Spirits.

Omg!!! Amazing! Loved our 1st bar tender the food in the back was amazing!!!!!!! Ordered the El tamarindo ! Delicious! Back again! Name change to Louie’s icehouse food is still amazing, service excellent!

The best mojito in the world!! The piña colada is delicious. A relaxed and intimate atmosphere, I highly recommend it.

Cocktails were great and the staff was really nice and knowledgeable. Really enjoyed sitting at the bar and just having a couple drinks including this Hemingway daiquiri which was perfect. Will definitely be back!

This d Building is an Escape from the Large Crowds, and quite the Trendy place! Fashioned as an antique Mediterranean Cafe, the Bar is a Magnet, for sure! Its Passport Menu will offer some of the most Unheard of combinations of Rum Concoctions to satisfy all tastes! Don't forget to order some food! The food menu has Delicious Combinations of Tacos with shredded Chicken or Beef! Chips and Cold Bean dip are a must! Two levels, two bars, a Balcony overlooking a Beautiful Landscape of the Courtyard!

Wether you’re perpetuating your green thumb at Tillage, sprucing up your look at Traveler, or enjoying a chic dinner at Scorpion, you must, and I mean MUST, end your evening with a cocktail from La Ruina! Peep the bar menu in the photos. However, La Ruina continues the Modernist tradition of employing exceptional bartenders who can whip up a curated cocktail should you wish to enjoy a custom drink. Expect very chill vibes, handsome clientele, and some of the best, well thought out cocktails in San Antonio. If you’re still practicing social distancing their patio is also lovely.
