    What makes it fun

The pastoral beauty of foods that can be traced back to the soil where they are organically shepherded over time is celebrated at Landrace, a landmark restaurant that was created by James Beard Award nominee Steve McHugh, who is considered as San Antonio's most celebrated chef. Landrace pays homage to the pastoral beauty of foods. Make reservations for a romantic dinner for two at Landrace for a date night that will certainly impress.

We were not impressed with the taste of the offerings for the Easter buffet TBH.. wait staff was personable. The restaurant atmosphere for being fairly "new" was remarked to having a definite 70s older style which the millennials in my group made a bit of fun about.

I believe the brunch is overpriced. 3 adults 3 dri nks, $420! We had to walk thru the seated tables to get to and from the buffet, which was awkward at times. Waited some time before water was served (something about section mix-up) and for the final bill. It's great to experience once, I guess...

Sorry but I won't go to a restaurant that puts its menu on its website without prices. I live in London and NY and I'm used to expensive restaurants. But I find it pretentious and silly if a restaurant tries to keep its prices secret.

I can't say we're regulars here, but we SA downtowners really love this place: sophisticated ambience, with acoustics that allow you to actually have a conversation, a great, innovative menu, and attentive but almost invisible service.Last night our foursome chanced a walk-in with no reservation at 7:30 (pretty much peak). They were absolutely slammed: the Thompson Hotel was hosting a convention, so the adjacent meeting room was filling with hungry attendees, and a large part of the main dining room was filled with another convention group. I approached the host about the slim possibility of fitting us in, and she promptly seated us in the wine room, away from the out-of-towners. By sheer luck, we had our own private alcove nestled amongst the rows of wine. So, if Landrace was over capacity, if the kitchen was maxed out, if the wait staff was stressed, it was of no consequence to us, as we saw no compromise in level of food, bar, or service we'd come to expect from this establishment. Just look at this freakin' double pork chop - crispy, tender, moist. What a treat!

AMAZING! Let me start by saying our server Jeffrey was the absolute best! He went over the menu and shared highlights and his favorites, made drink suggestions and honestly made us feel like we were his only table when he in fact had two others (that we saw). The manager Tammy was so kind and hospitable! She took time out of her busy night and chatted with us for awhile and shared some background of the establishment. Brandon the bartender made us old fashions table side and it was a fun experience to watch and create our own drinks. We loved our experience tonight and are already planning our next outing, but are definitely getting a babysitter next time! You will love this place! (We were so excited and enjoyed things too much to get photos of everything. Sorry!)Edited to include what we ate.Unfortunately the grill is down until March so the menu was modified and this was the first day of the new menu. We started with the Oysters Enbrochette, it was very tasty! The pork was tender and so flavorful! My husband then had the gumbo, which was pretty darn good for TX gumbo. I had the fried green tomato salad and it was very good as well, simple but lots of flavor. My husband had the lamb and he really enjoyed it, only complaint was there wasn’t more. Oh! And the potatoes were delicious! I had the trout and that was divine! The sauce, mushrooms and rice all went together perfectly. And for dessert a pecan pie with rye ice cream. OMG!!! that was AMAZING! We will DEFINITELY be getting one each when we go back.

Robert service was very welcoming and friendly The staff was amazing, and the food was perfect. The steak was cooked just right. I recommend ordering the oysters, grilled Cesar salad and Hopi blue corn hush puppies as an appetizer. Must have sides were the roasted baby carrots, king trumpet mushrooms, and grits, don’t forget the amazing mash potatoes! Red wine was a must with my wagu filet mignon, but the Across the Atlantic cocktails was perfect with our starters. Last but not lease, I recommend the carrot cake.
