What makes it fun

It's not just a place to stay; it's also a game to play. Think short-term rental meets private escape room. A house of conundrums, if you will. Guests stay in a carefully crafted home that houses a number of puzzles created to provide a complete evening of gameplay. The goal of the game is to search and explore the house for clues, artifacts, and riddles. Solving these leads to more clues, items, and riddles that aid in the opening of locked boxes, drawers, and cabinets, ultimately leading to the game's resolution. The game takes roughly 4 hours to complete on average, but because this is an overnight stay, you are free to take breaks, stop for supper, and overall establish your own speed and timeline. Travel back in time and become the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes.

Huge disappointment here because we can't tell you why it was the most amazing place we have ever stayed. We can't even show you why because It would give the mysteries away! This place is so incredibly well thought out to the most minute detail! Well worth the cost! Could have spent a second day here just living in Victorian steam punk life! Hosts were over-the-moon accommodating and kind.

We had a fantastic time staying at the Sherlock home! We went here for our 15th anniversary since my husband and I both enjoy escape rooms. Let me first say, that this is phenomenally better than any escape room! It is definitely a one of a kind must experience. The attention to detail is impeccable and the hosts are such fun! We received notes along the way to build up to the excitement. We didn't meet the hosts, but just wanted to say "thank you for the awesome anniversary welcome!" That was so very thoughtful. At first we thought we wouldn't see any wildlife, but being able to feed the deer popcorn was such an added bonus! We'd give your airbnb a 10 star rating if we could =)We stayed up until 1:00am just solving puzzles and having fun. We're hoping that the hosts will come up with more escape rooms for us to solve in the near future and will certainly recommend to all our family and friends! Thanks again

My family and I stayed here for my wife's and my anniversary. We spent our "off-time" solving puzzles. We're pretty good at them and it still took us two nights.I have never seen such beautiful furniture and intricate machinery with a depth of puzzles. If you like escape rooms, YOU MUST VISIT. Would recommend a group of friends or a work retreat. Will come back.

Incredible experience!! Very nice layout, with great puzzles and the ability to immerse yourself into the experience rather than getting kicked out within an hour. I would highly recommend this to any escape room enthusiasts as well as newbies as it does have a box of hints of you need them.

What an incredible experience! Five stars doesn't even begin to give this unique home its due. My kids and I are still talking about these puzzles and probably will be for years to come. In addition to the puzzles - which were just the right amount of challenge to fill our evening and part of the next morning - the decor really made the home unique. We felt transported back to Victorian England with the four poster beds, antique furniture, and decor. The home was well-stocked with snacks and other treats, immaculately clean, and we even got a visit from deer in the morning. Hosts were friendly and responsive. We traveled from Austin, but I'd make the trip from anywhere in the country for this experience!

can’t say enough good things about this place. they went above and beyond with the house, the game, and all the little details to make it comfortable. they even had extra toothbrushes in case a guest forgot theirs. i wish there were more places like this. be prepared to be challenged by some of the puzzles

The Sherlock Home was so much better than I expected! Six of us were able to complete the house in about 5 hours (with breaks for snacks). There were a ton of unexpected surprises and everything so well done.We slept in the master bedroom and the bed was to DIE for. It was so comfortable that I didn't want to get up the next morning.I'm already planning another trip to go back with friends ASAP!

Awesome experience. The couple was nice and made it a unique experience. It was well organized and the puzzles were really good. They even had snacks for you while you work on the puzzles. You can tell they put a lot of effort in to this house. The decor was great.

Not going to go into too much detail as not to give anything away, but if you're looking at staying here, DO IT! It's a really fun experience and hosts are awesome. You don't have to be big into Sherlock or escape rooms to enjoy it, the puzzles they came up were top notch. Make sure you set aside a few hours at minimum to complete the game, there's quite a few to solve and some took a little bit of collective thinking to figure out. Not going to post pictures as again, I don't want to give anything away, but really great decor, super clean and nice, quiet area. If you even think you might enjoy this, you will.

My husband is a huge escape room fan and enjoys the chaos of the time restraint, while it can quickly become overwhelming for me. The Sherlock Home was the PERFECT middle ground for us! We were able to be in the kitchen having snacks and tea, while casually looking over clues and enjoying each other's company.I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to help much from my lack of expertise about Sherlock Holmes, but no prior knowledge was necessary! We weren't able to finish that night, so we slept in the beautifully decorated room and had breakfast and coffee, while refreshing our focus in the morning. It was zero stress, and the end of the game was so exciting!! I hope that they consider changing the game so that we can stay again!Thank you The Sherlock Home for such an impressive and special getaway!
