Ambler offers a brand-new eating experience on the River Walk in downtown San Antonio, with everything from breakfast tacos to glorious Texas brisket. Every dish is recreated in delightfully unexpected ways by the restaurant's talented chefs, creating menus that read like a culinary tribute to the greatness of the Lone Star State. Our Texas-on-a-plate meals are summed up by the brisket from the adjacent Augusta Ranch, the coffee from San Antonio's own Merit Coffee Co., and the chili-glazed short rib. Our flavors are as big and bold as Texas.

A hidden gem in San Antonio! We sat on the patio and enjoyed a wonderful evening watching the holiday cheer and the festive boats go by. The service was a little slow the night we visited but was quickly addressed and corrected with a warm and kind server that made everything so much better. Well be back and you should try it!

The Ambler Restaurant offers a beautifully inviting atmosphere that feels both comfortable and sophisticated. The staff is exceptionally polite and professional, making for a delightful dining experience. Our waiter frequently checked in on us to ensure everything was to our liking. When I mentioned that I would prefer my dish to be heated a bit more, she promptly and cheerfully addressed my request.

To my surprise, the chef personally came out to apologize and graciously offered a complimentary dessert, along with a freshly prepared plate that was absolutely perfect. I left feeling thoroughly satisfied and would give this place all the stars if I could! The service was excellent and the ambiance elegant. I will definitely be returning!

Breakfast was outstanding, though they were out of the most popular item. The fried chicken was hard to even cut with a knife on one of the two pieces. 2nd piece was decent.

Francisco gave me the best customer experience I received in years, I travel for work and I see good service, but he exceeded expectations, I even congratulated the Manager for having such a good talent, his hospitality is in another level, thanks Frank

Everything was phenomenal, the coffee, the food and our waiter Francisco was beyond great! The gluten free pancakes are the best I've ever had! Go! You will not regret it!

Francisco was amazing, he was very attentive, able to answer any questions, and very nice! The breakfast was delicious, some of the best bacon I've had.

The drinks and food were delicious, can’t remember the server's name but he was very attentive and kind. When I first walked in I did ask the host if outside seating was available and she immediately said no without any context.. odd but overall everything else was great.

Recently stayed at the Contessa. Had a late dinner at the Ambler restaurant. Our server (Bellamy) was excellent. The filet I had was cooked perfectly and one of the better steaks I have had in a while. The Chicken Tortilla soup and crispy Brussel Sprouts were also very good.

Also had drinks on a few occasions at inside bar. Once again the service was excellent. Amanda and Stephen were attentive but not overbearing.

Lastly, ordered takeout breakfast one day and while the breakfast food wasn’t outstanding the server (Francisco) was outstanding. He insisted on bringing us some. coffee while we waited for the food to come out.

We chose this amazing restaurant for my birthday 🥳 breakfast & I am so glad we did! The food was fabulous!! Jarrod, our waiter, went above & beyond to make it a special breakfast 🍳! He split our sticky bun intuitively and I was so happy he did because that thing is HUGE!! It was rich & delicious…a definite TREAT! At the end of our meal, Jarrod brought out 3 balloons 🎈 for me 😁. I highly recommend the Ambler!

Beautiful food and a fantastic location by the river. Service from Taylor was great, super friendly and helpful.
The only negative was not being able to pay in cash, which seems unusual given the tourist centred location. Paying by card means I have to pay extra fees and get a poor conversion rate from my bank. I’d have much rather given Taylor this money, but instead it went to the bank.
If you must insist on being card only, please make this clear before your customers sit down and order $100+ worth of food.
