3.5/5 – Solid views, but service and seating need work
We met friends for happy hour on a Monday evening around 6:00 pm. The line for the scenic elevator was short, which was nice. The glass on the windows wasn’t the cleanest, but we still managed to snap some decent pictures and video of the city.
A waitress told us to sit anywhere, but that proved tricky with a group of four. We ended up pushing some chairs together and made it work. Service overall was pretty slow. Ordering something as simple as a Diet Coke, a regular Coke, a sweet tea, and two waters seemed to throw our server off. Another (equally confused) server brought just one Coke and one water after a few minutes, then came back later with the rest after some back-and-forth.
For food, my wife and I shared the two fish tacos, while our friends both went with the artichoke spread with bread. The food was okay — nothing special, and not really worth writing home about. The view is the big draw here, but our table position only really gave us sky most of the time instead of the full city panorama (the bar rotates slowly, so seating location matters).
Drink refills caused more mix-ups, even though they were standard orders. We’ve seen other reviews mention similar service hiccups, so it doesn’t seem like an isolated thing.
Bottom line: The 750-foot-high rotating views make it a fun San Antonio experience, especially during happy hour (4:30–7 pm Mon–Fri). Just go in expecting average bar bites, potential service delays, and maybe scout your table for the best sightlines. Great for a quick drink with out-of-town guests or a casual meet-up, but don’t expect polished service or standout food.
Would we go back? Probably for the views and happy hour specials, but we’d plan our seating and orders a bit more strategically next time.
