    What makes it fun

Hays Street Bridge is a place where locals tend to gravitate when they are looking for a perfect sunset overlook. The bridge has been around since the 1900's so you know it is jammed packed with history and character. It is a great area for a bike ride, a walk, or a photo op. The bridge is spectacularly lit up at night and is a favorite spot for many and a common place for shared moments of romance. Picture your speical moment walking along the bridge with a sunset in the background, dropping to one knee and popping your most precious question. The best place for a yes!

We heard about this location while touring the Riverwalk in San Antonio. We decided to check it out and weren't disappointed. We grabbed Alamo beers and listened to the live band. It was a perfect end to a great day spent with family.

There are so many things to say about this bridge. The architecture is so cool and the restoration has been done well. We visited on January 2nd and couldn’t believe all the firework debris and abandoned alcohol bottles and cans. As we walked across the bridge and saw what we could see, we were greeted with the strong smell of burning marihuana from a nearby skateboard park. It was sad to see all the “camps” along the railroad tracks and sad to see the neighborhood kids having to maneuver these sights and smells.

U can see a clear view of the city, plus u can feel the peace of tranquility. The sporadic trains that pass makes an awesome scenery. My family Unit and I love some Hays Street Bridge as I am a true Eastsider.

Nice view of downtown San Antonio and also Alamo Beer company right underneath. You can sit on the side of the bridge and watch live bands play. It’s a small spot tucked away that not many people seem to know about. Great place for a photo shoot or just a walk. It’s lit up at night so plenty of light to navigate around.

Beautiful look into San Antonio history. Only $5 per adult for a self-guided tour. Lots of interpretive plaques to explain the fascinating history of the building and its numerous renovations. I really enjoyed the unique wooden doors and furniture. While not original to the building, they are appropriate replicas of what would have been there. Also thought the gardens in back were delightful with giant love oaks shading the walkways and fountain. Delightful staff greeted us on entrance. A fun stop.
