Will NEVER eat here again and would not recommend! To start things off The inside looks a The inside looks a little Rundown and the bathroom was nasty
our hibachi chef ayybayy was amazing and he was so nice so nothing against him!
Buuuut why in the hell are the prices for this hibachi place so damn expensive! When we got our bill It was almost $250 for my family of 4 to eat! we eat at hibachi all the time and have never paid more that $150 and that’s including sushi to!
They said the lowest price steak was a Ny strip and honestly I could have gone to a steakhouse and gotten a steak twice the size for that price! Then they also add five dollars for the fried rice??!! At a hibachi place there’s an up charge for fried rice?! seriously!!!? Then to add my daughter’s steak hibachi was half the price of mine but had the same amount of food!? Make it make sense! Then after reviewing the bill again, we noticed that it was a forced 18% service charge for the table of four people And I couldn’t even opt to take it off! Literally left sick to my stomach and was so pissed off and when trying to bring it up to the manager there was no sympathy or compassionate about it. He was just basically like oh well that’s how it is. It says it on the menu. Never again! So disappointed

The chef was amazing and we greatly enjoyed the food however, we were charged 50$ for the steak hibachi which is crazy. They said it's because it was a new York strip but sorry I could get a new your strip at a steak house thats twice the size for half the cost and its a 5$ upcharged for fried rice...... never been to a hibachi place where they dont just automatically give you fried rice. BTW my daughter got the kids steak hibachi and it was only 27$. The kids got just as much food as we did and they charged a 18% gratuity for just a table of 4. 250$ for two adults and two kids. Sorry but we won't be going back.

It was pretty warm in there but that wasn't the main issue. When you get habachi it is mostly for the experience. We'll, our experience was horrible. Our chef hardly said a word to us, he didn't do any tricks and it was boring. The food was expensive and it had zero flavor. I asked was he new first because I would have kinda understood but he wasn't. I was informed he was there for over 2 years. The other family that was there complained as well so i knew it wasn't just us that felt that way. We were celebrating birthdays too. The manager was very apologetic but I'm not sure I would go back.

I took my wife, daughter and son-in-law to Sumo's, and we had a wonderful time. The food is absolutely delicious, but the best part of the whole experience was the chef who served us. He was delightful what with all of the food preparation and serving tricks that he had "up his sleeve," so to speak. The "volcano" was my favorite (with real fire, no less!), and the way the food was so skillfully prepared it left one in continual amazement! When I visit San Antonio, Texas I will definitely eat at Sumo Japanese Steakhouse again!
