Our experience at Brenner’s in San Antonio was extremely disappointing, especially considering we were visiting from out of town to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary. From the moment we walked in, we felt unwelcome. We were dressed nicely—my husband was wearing nice golf shorts and a polo, and I was wearing a dress—and the hostess immediately looked us up and down before asking if we were aware of the dress code. We genuinely had no idea that my husband’s shorts were not permitted, especially given how nicely he was dressed and the fact that we have dined at other upscale restaurants such as Jeff Ruby’s without ever having an issue. He was asked to go back to the hotel and change and we explained that we were from out of town and that he had not brought pants because of the weather. We were then told we could only sit in the bar area or on the patio because of his attire. What made this even more frustrating was that we could see people inside wearing jeans and even regular T-shirts. We agreed to sit on the patio, but unfortunately, the service did not improve from there. We sat for at least 15 minutes without being acknowledged. When our waitress finally came over, she asked what kind of water we wanted. We simply said regular water, only to later discover that we had been charged $10 for bottled water because she had poured it from a bottle. That was never explained to us. We also noticed that bread was being brought to other tables when they were seated, but we never received any. My husband eventually asked if we could have a basket since we hadn’t been given one. We were then charged $5 for the bread on our bill. The most frustrating part of the evening happened with dessert. After our meal—which, to be fair, was very good—another employee came over and repeatedly asked if we wanted dessert. We politely declined several times and explained that we had already had dessert back at our hotel. He continued pushing, but we continued saying no. Shortly afterward, our waitress came over with spoons, and we initially thought maybe they were doing something thoughtful for our anniversary. Instead, she told us she was still waiting on our crème brûlée. We were completely confused because we never ordered crème brûlée. Sure enough, there was a charge for it on our bill. When we asked our waitress about it, she told us she thought she had overheard us telling the other employee that we wanted it, so she went ahead and ordered it. The dessert literally arrived at our table as we were trying to explain that we never ordered it. We told her we were too full and did not want it because we had never requested it in the first place. Her response was to apologize and say she would take it back so it could be removed from the bill. We were honestly stunned. It was her mistake, yet instead of simply leaving the dessert for us as a courtesy or offering another solution, it was taken away. The food itself was good, but good food does not make up for poor service and an uncomfortable experience, especially when you’re celebrating a milestone occasion. Our reservation specifically noted that we were celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary, and absolutely nothing was done to acknowledge or make the occasion feel special. We came to Brenner’s expecting an upscale dining experience and left feeling like an inconvenience. We’ve had significantly better experiences at Jeff Ruby’s, where the service and attention to special occasions actually make you feel valued as a guest. We were visiting San Antonio specifically for our anniversary, and unfortunately, Brenner’s ended up being one of the least memorable parts of our trip—not because of the food, but because of how we were treated and how poorly the evening was handled.

Excellent service from Chef Ramses. It was our first time visiting the place with my family. We are foreigners and don't understand the language, so he was very kind and helped us choose the best option to taste and enjoy my birthday dinner.

Food was amazing…the bacon appetizer was melt in your mouth delish! If you can get Johnny as your server you will be in super hands. Will visit when I come back to San Antonio.

This is a gem of a restaurant on the Riverwalk. We came for my birthday and were able to sit out on the balcony right over the Riverwalk. What an amazing atmosphere. The trees were lit up and it made for a fun and romantic dinner. The reviews were really good and spot on. The food was so flavorful! We had the wedge salad, the shrimp, burnt ends brisket, and oysters for an appetizer. I recommend them all. We got the 10 oz filet and the ribeye. The filet was better IMO. We skipped dessert due to being too full. The service is attentive, cordial, and professional. I enjoyed everything about the experience. Absolutely will be back if I am ever in San Antonio again.

Came out to celebrate a good friends birthday. We had a very wonderful time. Our waiter Keith was amazing. He made sure he answered an questions we had about the menu and also reccomended items. We will be returning back soon. Thanks for the wonderful service.

What a truly amazing experience! The food was exceptional. Started out with the bacon, and oysters. Followed up with a filet and tomahawk, both cooked to perfection. The waitstaff is a shining light in this establishment, part of the experience in itself.our servers Colton Norris and Keith Campbell were so knowledgeable, gave great recommendations and it was amazing to see the effort they put in to make the experience special. Simple things like polishing glasses or using little lights for photos to show off the meat. I cannot recommend this place enough. For being open only 3 months you all are doing great!

Japanese A5 ‼️ I finally found the opportunity to experience the infamous Japanese A5 wagyu. I have had both American & Australian Wagyu but as everyone knows, A5 is the gold standard. I found a steakhouse on the San Antonio Riverwalk that offered many high-end steak options including a 6 oz A5 filet mignon. I opted to go with the A5 Wagyu appetizer which came served with a hot stone allowing you to cook tableside. The wagyu was everything you can imagine and more. Literally like it's described in most reviews as meat butter melting in your mouth and creating a flavor that's indescribable. I also opted for the salt service which I highly recommend if a steakhouse has this offering. This gave me a variety of black truffle salt, Himalayan salt and even a jalapeno salt to utilize on every dish I ordered including the A5. Next I opted for some Oysters which in fact paired very well with the salt service as well and were a nice East Coast variety But then I couldn't resist taking advantage of their current Wild Game feature which was a Bison Ribeye served on top a cauliflower & spinach puree. This entire dinner service took over 2 hours and was probably one of the top three meals I've had in my life. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was immaculate.
